Dr. Mario Ceja, MD was born and raised in Calexico and has family throughout the Imperial Valley and Mexicali. He attended schools in Calexico, including Mains School, De Anza Junior High School and Calexico High School. He graduated from UCSD majoring in Biology and continued his professional education at UCSD School of Medicine. He finished his residency in Family Medicine at San Bernardino County Medical Center in 1996. He moved to Calexico in 1996 and has been treating patients since then.
He has been Board Certified by the The American Board of Family Medicine since 1996. Board certified family doctors have completed an additional three years of training at an accredited family medicine residency program and have passed a test given by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). To maintain their board certification, family doctors must continue to update their knowledge, participate in continuous professional development, demonstrate that they are improving the care they provide, and consistently meet standards of professionalism. To remain board certified family doctors must complete 150 hours of continuing medical education (CME) every 3 years, perform self assessment activities every 3 years and a pass a exam every 10 years.
As a physician he mainly practices adult medicine and treats ages from 19 and above. He enjoys working with senior citizens and has extensive experience in Geriatric medicine and is very comfortable treating patients with multiple complex and chronic conditions.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Dr. Ceja promotes preventive care through a healthy diet, exercise and emotional well being. Dr. Ceja is known to be a low key person who is very respectful of his patients and emphasizes privacy with respect to patient interactions. In his office you will be treated only by Dr Ceja.
When not seeing patients, he likes to spend his time with his wife and kids. He lives an active lifestyle and exercises through running, strength training, swimming and bicycle riding.
